Backway´s Physical Therapy, PLLC
Working at Backway's Physical Therapy
Backway's Physical Therapy is a group practice, where the practitioners are Independent Contractors instead of employees. Every practitioner who works with us gets the best compensation we can manage, while still contributing to the business' overhead.
This compensation, along with the practitioners being their own bosses, allows them to set their own schedules, giving them a great deal of freedom to attend to family and to their continuing education; and time to devote to fitness and staying healthy.
Our PT's usually take more than double the required hours of continuing education each year, and they are highly motivated to learn, to grow professionally, and to do the best job they can in treating their patients.
We have some amazingly skilled PT's in our group, and below you will read what some of them say about working with Backway's PT.
We have openings for Physical Therapists to join our group.
If you are interested, please contact us. There is a contact form at bottom of the page for your convenience.

Present Practitioners:
What is it like to work at Backway’s Physical Therapy? Alice in Wonderland!
I willingly sought out the ‘rabbit hole,’ and immersed myself into an environment of amazing individuals that comprise the dynamic and wonderfully unique team members of Backway’s PT.
The library of knowledge that the physical therapists possess dances through the clinic and invites me down a plethora of magical avenues that the world of rehabilitation has to offer.
I am able to build and develop my skills as a physical therapist, collecting wisdom from my colleagues.
Inviting questions and offering assistance, our delightful front office ladies create the magical character of Backway’s Physical Therapy. They are the foundational component that allows this clinic to thrive as a Wonderland that is unlike the traditional versions of physical therapy I have seen in the past.
I cherish every moment and am honored to be a member of this team.
I have been a physical therapist for more than thirty years. You could say that "I've seen it all," having worked in most settings except for home health.
In this day and age, with escalating costs in health care, the trend towards increasing speed, efficiency and compartmentalization that can often feel impersonal and dehumanizing to patients who are in need of medical care, Backway's PT is an oasis for me, a kind of sanctuary.
Working at Backway's, I have the support and encouragement to give excellent quality of care and to take the time I need to look at the whole person and treat the source of the problem, so I can be more effective in decreasing their pain and restoring their highest level of function.
I don't have to compromise my standards, my integrity, nor do I have to rush patients through their treatments or pass them off to a technician.
Backway's is a model of "hands-on" care in a world where this is becoming increasingly rare. I am proud and grateful to be part of this group, where humanity, presence and healing are valued over profit and gain.
Practicing physical therapy at Backway's PT is best captured by two words, which are quality and freedom.
I believe that quality is a good term because at Backway's the practice model has been set up to allow both the client and the practitioner to have enough time to get to the root-cause of the client's dysfunction. With most appointments being one hour in length and the therapists not having 2-3 assistant's caseloads that we need to manage, we have time to complete a full assessment of our clients.
Quality is also the reason why practitioners practice out of Backway's. We are here to have great results with the clientele and will consult with each other (sometimes teaching and learning from each other) in order to provide the best physical therapy possible. We have a diverse team of practitioners that have a broad variety of skill sets that really complement each other.
Freedom speaks to the ability you have to control your own practice under the Backway's umbrella. Since you make up your own hours, you have the freedom to see more or less clients. You have the freedom to schedule your own clients or let the amazing front-office staff schedule for you. You have the freedom to take as many courses a year as you want, since you are your own "boss" and thus you can grow quickly working at Backway's PT. Since the front-office staff can handle billing and authorizations for you, you have the freedom to concentrate on the things that matter most which for me is being the best practitioner I can be.
I have grown in leaps and bounds since I started practicing at Backway's PT and attribute it largely to the vision and creativity that Ruth Backway has employed in creating Backway's PT. I would never go back to the "old way" of working in other PT clinics, where I was being pressured to see more and more clients all for making my employer the primary beneficiary.
Backway's is fantastic.
In twelve years as a physical therapist I have worked for a handful of different companies and different clinics in Wisconsin, Washington, California, and Arizona.
The environment at Backway's clinic, the commitment to serving the patient, providing holistic, patient-centered, high quality care, is unlike any place I have worked before.
I feel the environment at Backway's allows our patients to experience the full potential of physical therapy intervention.
As a clinician, working at Backway's also provides a unique opportunity for mentorship. There is an amazing group of clinicians willing to share ideas from a wide background of clinical experience. I expanded my clinical skills and treatment philosophy more in my first 6 months working part-time at Backway's, than in 2 years working full time at my last outpatient job.
Backway's provides a place for clinicians to treat patients through their individual lens, and also to get input from other skilled PT's if we want that, so in my opinion it is a great balance between learning and treating.
Past Practitioners:
I have known Ruth Backway and worked with her at her building and practice from 2003-2015.
She has created a business environment that allows independent Physical Therapists to remain independent, while having the benefits of being in a group. She and her office staff carefully and promptly follow changes to insurance billing and practice law to keep the business side of being a PT easier and allowing you to focus on treating your patients.
Each member of the group has their own specialty or focus, which has created a stronger environment for learning for you as a therapist, as well as offering a strong team approach for the care of your patients.
I highly recommend joining this practice regardless of where you are in your career. If you are a newer PT looking to specialize in one-on-one care from within a strong and experienced group, or if you are a more experienced PT with skills to share and wanting a group of people to stimulate new approaches, you will be able to find a spot within this team.
I have been a PT for 31 years and have worked in a wide variety of settings.
I worked at Backway's Physical Therapy for 2 1/2 years and found my dream job! I wish that I had found this place earlier in my career instead of at the end!
As an independent contractor working under the Backway’s umbrella, you get to be your own boss, making your own hours and schedule; but without the stress of dealing with insurance claims and billing, which is done by the awesome office staff. I could focus on patient care and being a better PT.
Setting up my own business was intimidating initially, but Ruth, the other therapists and the office staff walked me through it and smoothed the way, giving advice and making it easy.
The therapists at Ruth Backway's clinic are highly skilled, they are a great resource and the patient care at this clinic is exceptional. I feel grateful and so very blessed to have had the opportunity of working there.
